Print Making

Val completed a Foundation Course in York and later an English Degree and PGCE at The University of Sussex.

She has always sketched and painted, but twenty years ago, discovered printmaking and its enormous variety of techniques, mezzotint, etching, and collagraph being just a few of the approaches tried.

For the Christmas 2024 show, she is presenting reduction linos based on the South Downs, which some will recognise as landmarks of their travels through the Sussex landscape.

She is also including a selection of mezzotints—featuring other perhaps less instantly recognisable interests—some of which have featured in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
