Jim Mayor

Glass

One of Jim’s earliest memories is of making a toy stained-glass window whilst watching ocean explorer and conservationist Jacques Cousteau on TV.

With a background in urban design (think architecture for outdoor spaces), Jim has always been drawn to strong graphic images and the work of designers such as Eero Aarnio, who used organic and geometric forms to create some of the most iconic designs of the 1960s.

Fast forward and Jim now combines these influences to make wall-hanging, ocean-themed fused glass artworks, often inspired by the creatures Jacques’ adventures introduced him to.

Based in Fiveways, Jim’s work is also on display at IO and Aphrodite Galleries in Brighton.
