Eve Claire Taylor

Cloisonné

Eve’s love of enamelling with silver and copper has been with her since 2008. Her early years were as a jeweller as she took an apprenticeship from school after developing a fascination with metalwork.

She returned to Brighton University after having two children to do a full-time 3D Craft degree to widen her skills. Now a silver and coppersmith, she really enjoys exploring larger forms in metalwork, especially with the addition of colour and patinas with vitreous enamel. She has a workshop at the Phoenix Studios in Brighton.

Eve also has experience and a diploma in metalwork conservation from West Dean College near Chichester. As a member of The Sussex Guild of Makers since 2009, she participates in The Guild shows around Sussex every year.

Her metalwork is influenced by architectural and natural forms encountered in the environment. The alchemic effects that are the result of firing ground glass and silica in a hot enamelling kiln will never cease to amaze. This will always be her main inspiration to experiment and create new work.
